Mobius

That Troublemaker is really helping me to learn new things! In his latest post he tried modeling a mobius strip. Something tells me it’ll be easier in 2011 ;) A little cheating still has to be done.

I noticed that you cannot paint the back side surface with a different material. This will be especially noticeable in the above form.

Gustav's Opus on Labor Day

So today, between watching coverage of Hurricane Gustav and being a Revit Geek, I toyed around with the Swept Blend tool to try and emulate a form that another fellow Revit blogger posted about in the past week (this one and this other one).

It took a lot of time and lots of failed attempts, but I finally got pretty close. It's next to impossible to use Revit to conceptualize these forms from scratch, but it's always a good brain-teaser to try and model a form that seems unachieveable in Revit. Below is a picture of the original form:



And this is what I came up with:


Here's another image to try emulate the original picture above. My attempt was on a squarish pattern, while the original is more rectangular (and the joints have a little curl which is too difficult to model!):
